• Medipride M2 Tablet contains Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin 500mg used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps control blood sugar levels
• It also helps prevent loss of legs, blindness, and kidney damage due to diabetes

Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults

• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this tablet as it may cause low sugar levels or Lactic Acidosis (high lactic acid levels in the blood)
• This medicine is only for adults and is not safe for children
• Do not take a double dose of this Tablet if you miss a dosage, take it as soon as possible but if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule prescribed by your doctor

Tell your doctor if you take any of the following before you take Medipride M2 Tablet

• Insulin (Injection or other forms)
• BP Tablets
• Water Pills (Diuretics)
• Medicines taken for Heart Failure or heart problems
• Tablets that are taken for Hypertension
• Steroids
• Thyroid hormones
• Antibiotics
• Calcium channel blockers (medicines for blood pressure)
• Antacids
• HIV/AIDS drugs
• Anticancer drugs
• Antifungals
• Other Antidiabetic drugs
• Anticonvulsants (Medicine taken for seizures)

Pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult their doctor before taking Medipride M2 Tablet as it is unsafe to take this medication during pregnancy and it may affect the newborn baby

• Take it just before or with your breakfast. Avoid skipping breakfast, lunch, or dinner
• Eat healthy food, follow a healthy lifestyle and take other diabetes medicines if they are also prescribed by your doctor
• Check your blood sugar level regularly while you take this medicine
• Avoid any work or task that requires focus or concentration or high physical stress while taking this medicine
• Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you if you suddenly experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremors, and anxiety
• Get your liver functions regularly monitored by your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellow skin (jaundice)
• Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any difficulty in breathing or rapid breathing problems, continuous nausea and vomiting, and stomach pain as Metformin may cause a rare and dangerous condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid present in your blood
• Long use of Metformin can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency which may lead to anaemia, fatigue, pale skin, breathing problems, or headache. Inform your doctor so that he can prescribe supplements for the vitamin deficiency
• Your doctor will monitor your blood sugar levels and kidney functions regularly while you take this medication

Medipride M2 Tablet can be taken after eating food to avoid stomach upset at a time prescribed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole, do not chew or crush or break the tablet

• This is generally prescribed with a low dosage for patients with mild to moderate liver disease and must be avoided by patients with severe liver disease, consult your doctor regarding this
• Tell your doctor if you are allergic to this medicine or if you have G6PD deficiency (an inherited condition affecting red blood cells), or if you have surgery scheduled
