• Glycomet Tablet contains Metformin 500mg used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It controls blood sugar levels and prevents serious complications of diabetes

• It is  not safe to consume alcohol while taking Glycomet 500mg Tablet as it may increase the chance of a life-threatening condition known as Lactic Acidosis
• Do not take a double dose of Glycomet Tablet if you ever miss a dose, skip the dose and follow your regular schedule as prescribed
• This medicine is not for children under the age of 10 and for children above 10 years of age consult a doctor before using this tablet

The following medicines or drugs, if taken with this Tablet can lead to enhanced low blood sugar levels
 

• Sex hormones

• Painkillers

• Growth hormones
• Antidiabetic medicines

Glycomet Tablet is safe to take if properly prescribed by a doctor for pregnant or breastfeeding women

• You have been prescribed Glycomet 500mg Tablet that controls the blood sugar level and reduces the risk of diabetic complications such as heart attacks
• Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser with this medicine as compared to other diabetes medicines
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief
• Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glycomet 500mg Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood
• Prolonged use of Glycomet 500mg Tablet may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency which may lead to anemia, causing fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath, or headache. Notify your doctor if you experience any of these as you may require supplements
• Your doctor will monitor your blood sugar levels and kidney functions regularly while you are taking this medication
