• Amaryl M 2mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine that contains Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin 500mg used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
• It helps control high blood sugar levels in diabetic patients
• It also prevents risks of kidney problems, blindness, nerve disorders, and loss of legs

Treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• It is not safe to consume Amaryl M 2mg Tablet while drinking alcohol as it may cause low sugar levels or Lactic Acidosis
• This Tablet is not for children
• Do not take a double dose of this medicine if you miss a dosage skip the dose and follow the regular schedule prescribed by your doctor

This medicine may interact with the following, tell your doctor if you use any of them

• Insulin (Injection or other forms)
• BP Tablets
• Water Pills (Diuretics)
• Medicines taken for Heart Failure or heart problems
• Tablets that are taken for Hypertension
• Steroids
• Thyroid hormones
• Antibiotics
• Calcium channel blockers (medicines for blood pressure)
• Antacids
• HIV/AIDS drugs
• Anticancer drugs
• Antifungals
• Other Antidiabetic drugs
• Anticonvulsants (Medicine taken for seizures)

Pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult their doctor before taking Amaryl M 2mg Tablet as it is unsafe to take this medication during pregnancy and it may affect the newborn baby

• Avoid skipping breakfast, lunch and dinner as it may cause low blood sugar levels while taking this medicine
• Check your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine
• This medicine can cause low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss eating food
• Always carry some sweet food or fruit juice with you in case you experience cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremors (shaking of body parts without control), and anxiety (fear, stress, uneasiness) as these are signs of low blood sugar levels
• Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms, such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (signs of jaundice)
• Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, continuous sick and vomiting sensation, and stomach pain as Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood
• Long use of Metformin may cause Vitamin B12 deficiency which may lead to anemia (lack of red blood cells to carry oxygen), causing fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath, or headache
• Reduce the amount of salt and sugar that you take with food, try to control your weight and eat healthy food

• Low blood sugar levels (Hypoglycemia)

• Sick sensation or feeling
• Diarrhea
• Gas
• Lactic Acidosis (Overdose)

Amaryl M 2mg Tablet can be taken after breakfast, lunch, or dinner as prescribed by your doctor

Taking the tablet after eating food will help you avoid your stomach getting upset

Swallow it as a whole, do not chew or crush or break the tablet

Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and delays the absorption of sugar by the intestines thus increasing body cell's response to insulin

• Do not take this tablet if you have severe kidney or liver disease, diabetic ketoacidosis (high levels of blood acid), or type 1 diabetes mellitus
• Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have heart disease, thyroid disease, or hormonal conditions as it may not be suitable for you
• Avoid this tablet if you have Vitamin B12 deficiency
• Tell your doctor if you are allergic to this medicine or if you have G6PD deficiency (an inherited condition affecting red blood cells), or if you have surgery scheduled
