Ranolaz 500mg Tablet SR may be unsafe to use during pregnancy

• It should be taken with food to avoid stomach upset.
• It improves HbA1c and blood sugar levels in diabetes patients.
• It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
• Notify your doctor if you are taking any other medications along with Ranolazine
• It may produce changes in the ECG (QTc interval prolongation). It is recommended to get an ECG done within 1 to 2 weeks of starting the medication.

Q. What are the serious side effects of Angiotec?
Angiotec may cause changes in electrical activity of heart which is known as QT prolongation. Your doctor may get regular tests done to check the electrical activity of your heart. Tell your doctor right away if you feel faint, lightheaded or if your heart starts beating irregularly or fast, as these may be symptoms of QT prolongation. Angiotec may also cause kidney failure in patients who already have kidney problems. Therefore, your doctor may need to do tests to check how your kidneys are working.

Q. I started taking Angiotec about a week ago. Now I have noticed that my urine has become very dark though I am taking plenty of fluids. Is there anything to worry about?
Urine discoloration could be because of Angiotec. You need not worry if you do not have any other symptoms. However, if it still bothers you, you can talk to your doctor who will advise you further.

Q. In case I accidentally take excess of Angiotec, what will happen?
Excess of Angiotec can cause nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, double vision, tiredness, severe tremor, confusion, hallucinations, difficulty in speaking and walking and you can even faint. If you have taken excess of Angiotec by mistake, call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical care in a nearby hospital.

Q. Is it safe to take Angiotec if I am already taking metoprolol?
Yes, it is safe to take the Angiotec and Metoprolol together. Angiotec has minimal effect on blood pressure in patients of angina.

Q. I am a diabetic and am taking metformin. My doctor has prescribed Angiotec, is it safe to take both together?
If you are taking metformin along with Angiotec, you have to be careful since Angiotec may increase the levels of metformin in the body which can lead to metformin toxicity. Talk to your doctor who will modify the dose of metformin.

Q. I have been taking simvastatin to keep my cholesterol levels in check. Can I take Angiotec with it?
It is recommended not to take simvastatin and Angiotec together because it may cause simvastatin toxicity which may lead to symptoms like muscle weakness and soreness, fatigue, decreased urination, etc. Let your doctor know that you are already taking simvastatin. If it is still necessary to take, then take it exactly as advised by the doctor.

Ranolaz 500mg Tablet SR is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
