Linagliptin is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Ondero 5mg Tablet

Ondero 5mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Linagliptin is an antidiabetic medication. It works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces the fasting and postmeal sugar levels.

Q. What is Linagliptin used for?
Linagliptin is used to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. In these patients, the body does not make enough insulin or is not able to use the produced insulin properly. Linagliptin is used in patients whose blood sugar levels cannot be adequately controlled with one oral anti-diabetic medicine. It should be taken along with a balanced diet combined with exercise. Linagliptin may be used together with other anti-diabetic medicines such as metformin, sulphonylureas (e.g. glimepiride, glipizide), empagliflozin, or insulin.

Q. What are the side effects of Linagliptin?
Linagliptin may cause side effects such as stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, cough, and diarrhea. Whereas, the serious side effects include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), allergic reactions, joint pain which can be severe, a skin reaction (bullous pemphigoid), and inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) which may be severe and can even lead to death.

Q. When should I take Linagliptin? What if I miss a dose?
Linagliptin can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as the patient remembers. A double dose should not be taken on the same day.

Q. Is Linagliptin bad for kidneys?
No, there is no evidence that Linagliptin is bad for kidneys. It can be used without any dose adjustment in patients with renal impairment.

Q. Is Linagliptin safe to be taken for a long time?
Yes, it is safe to take Linagliptin for a long time. Its long-term use which can be months or even years has not shown any harmful effects.

Q. For how long I have to take Linagliptin? Can I stop the medication?
You should keep taking Linagliptin as directed by your doctor. You may have to take it for the rest of your life depending on how well you can tolerate it. Do not abruptly stop taking the medicine, as it keeps your blood sugar levels under control and prevents health problems which may cause serious problems if left unchecked.

Ondero 5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
